Investing in carbon reduction projects

Duni Group is purchasing credits from selected third-party verified emissions reduction projects in accordance the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS). The credits from these projects are only issued after the associated emissions reductions have taken place, which means that ex-ante carbon credits cannot be used. The offsetting credits are legally attributed, have a clear record of ownership from the project owner, and are measurable, permanent and additional. Duni Group is investing in two projects.

Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve, Indonesia

This project is working to help preserve Borneo’s richly biodiverse tropical peat swamp forests. The Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve project reduces greenhouse gas emissions by protecting 47,000 hectares of tropical peat swamp forest from deforestation for palm oil production. Located on Borneo’s southern coast in Indonesia, the project also protects ecosystem biodiversity.

Jiangxi Forest Conservation, China

This project is working to help protect China’s ancient forests from illegal logging and enhancing biodiversity. The Jiangxi Forest Conservation project converts an area of forest that was previously logged into a protected area. As well as sequestering carbon by preventing logging, Improved Forest Management (IFM) under the project enhances the biodiversity of the area.
